If you were looking for clarity on the future of the New Jersey solar market, you are going to have to wait. Unfortunately, with supply outstretching the state’s renewable portfolio standard (RPS) for solar, the demand for SRECs has decreased, thus driving down prices. Without an adjustment to RPS to increase demand for SRECs, the future is fuzzy at best. Yesterday, the New Jersey legislature did not vote on Senate Bill 2371 due to “diverse factions in the solar sector” being at odds on several issues.
